The
north of Vancouver Island is a paradise for wilderness lovers.
This part of the Island is less populated then the southern part.
But if you like hiking, kayaking, canoeing or just plain being
away from civilization you have to come here. The main community
of the North Island is Campbell River. From here there is only
short jump to Quadra Island. You can take Highway No 19 and go
all the way to Port McNeill or to Port Hardy. Port Hardy is the
destination port for the BC Ferry coming here from Prince Rupert.
From Port McNeill you can take ferry to Malcolm Island and Alert
Bay. Both of the places are historic sites of the life of the
Natives. There is nothing like the North Island.
