North
Okanagan spreads from the northern part of Shushwap Lake, all the
way down to Vernon. The climate here is very different from the
southern part of the Valley, where extensive cultivation of fruit
orchards and vegetables take place. The north is just dominated
by the huge Shushwap Lake, the most houseboats populated lake in
Canada. Between Shushwap and Vernon there is are of small farms, producing
mostly vegetables, and large number of lakeshore campings, RV, motels
and hotels at the banks of the south extension of Sushwap, the Mara
Lake. From Vernon you can either go south to Kelowna and Pentincton,
or turn east to Arrow Lake, and then to Kootenay. Alternatively you
can get to Calgary on Highway 1.
