The North Rockies Area covers the territory of Jasper National Park, as well as small, northern part of Banff National Park. The main attraction of this Area is the Columbia Icefield. Total area of the Icefields is 100 km2. Beside this attraction, the area is rich in attractive scenery, wildlife and endless number of hiking trails, mountain lakes, streams, ponds and other natural wanders. Northern Rockies are more sparsely populated then the southern part. The trip is made double worthwhile because of the high mountains and the variety of wildlife. The service and accommodation center is Jasper, which was created on the Canadian National Railway line from Edmonton to Vancouver.
