The
Kananaskis Area lies between Bragg Creek Recreational Area and
the Banff National Park. In order to get to it, you have to drive
around 80 km west of Calgary by the Trans Canada Highway, and
then turn south, directly into Kananaskis Country. This is the
home of two Provincial Parks, Peter Logheed and part of the Elbow-Sheep
Wildland Provincial Park. There are the former Winter Olympic
facilities, of downhill and slalom on the Nakiska ski hills.
You will find many picnic areas along the lakes and streams,
in the summer, and cross-country trails in the winter. Kananaskis
can be enjoyed in all seasons with its abundance of hotels, restaurants
and recreational facilities.
